Converting Metric Units

When converting metric units you need to know the key facts:

Length                          Mass                       Volume                            m = metre
10 mm = 1 cm       1000 g = 1 kg           1000 ml =1 litre                  km = kilometre
100 cm = 1 m       1000 kg = 1 ton              1 ml = 1 cm^3                kg = kilogram
1000 m = 1 km                                        1 m^3 = 1000 litres         mm = millimetre
                                                                                                         cm = centimetre

These facts will help you convert two sets of metric units.

Example:

To convert cm to mm you times cm by 10 and the answer will equal the mm.

When converting mm to cm you divide the mm by 10 and the answer will equal the cm.

    If you're up for a challenge can you explain how to change 1m^3 into cm^3?
